Cedar View Dorper Farm
Owned by Jeff and Karen Wright, we have three children Natasha, Katrina, and Jarrett. We both work fulltime, Jeff works off the farm, Karen runs a business from home. We have raised sheep since 1998. We currently have a flock of 125 Ewes, Dorper full blood and percentage. We have raised Dorper sheep since 2001. We hope to have a flock of 150 registered purebred Dorpers by 2012. We are currently sourcing QR and RR rams for the scrapie program. The Ewes are either from the Compion Line, Jordaan Line and RAMH. Our farm is 180 acres; we graze on approximately 60 acres. We produce our own hay and purchase grain from neighboring farmers. We participate in the OSMA Sheep health program, the SFIP program, and are preparing for the scrapie program.
We select our replacement Dorper ewes based on growth, fleece covering and feet. Dorper Rams we offer for sale are only ones we feel meet the Dorper breed standard, they must have 100 day weights over 80 pounds, if they do not conform they are sent for meat.
Dorpers are easy keepers, good mothers, no shearing required, and have a suberb meat carcass. We consistantly get top and high dollar at the sale barn for our lambs, the ones we send for meat are Dorper crosses. This breed is great for the commercial breeder, giving an improved carcass with full legs and long loins.
Llamas are used for protection.
Our Guarantee
All sheep purchased are guaranteed as breeders.
Rams are guaranteed fertile. If a ram is found to be infertile by a licensed veterinarian within six months of purchase, he will be replaced. The ram must be returned, at the buyers expense, and tested by our veterinarian to determine that he is in fact infertile. If found infertile the ram will be replaced.
Ewes are guaranteed to breed and deliver a lamb. If an ewe will not breed she must be returned, at the buyers cost, and then given an opportunity to be bred by our rams. If the ewe will not conceive she will be replaced. Ewes sold as open are not guaranteed to be open but are in my best estimation to not have been bred.
Our sheep are not guaranteed against death, disease, or accident that may occur when they are out of our control.
We do not guarantee against faults that may develop over time that were not detectable at time of purchase.
Deposits
Animals are sold first come first serve basis, nothing is held without a deposit of 25% of the purchase price. If they are not picked up with in a month of the proper age release date, a charge of $2 per day will be added.
